Description:
On 25th April, 2019 St. Mary’s Convent Inter College organized a visit to the Leprosy Ashram in Kareli. Sixteen students of class 12 along with Sr. Martha CJ, Sr. Vinaya CJ and Mr. Vivek Tiwari, our teacher started on the journey under the able guidance of the almighty by saying our prayers and singing hymns on our way. As soon as we reached the Ashram, many enthusiastic members came out from their homes and greeted us. There was a beautiful temple in the campus and the ground was resplendent with greenery. An interactive session with the inmates was an eye opener for us. Our hearts were filled with grief after realizing their pains and difficulties. We prayed for them and sung songs to bring happiness in their lives. Later eatables were distributed among the inmates. A girl named Kajal was the center of attraction for all of us. She took us around to show us her home.
The dedication of our Sisters towards the well being of the inmates of the Ashram is commendable. We thank our Principal Sr. Jyoti CJ for giving us an opportunity to visit the Leprosy Ashram. It has made us conscious of the realities around us and instilled in us the determination to play a wider role in the society.
